Tips & Tricks
Box Jump Up & Over: Catch your breath before you start then get in a rhythm. You must jump each time.
Sled Push: Stay low or the sled will dig and slow you down. Wear grippy shoes (no cleats). Arms bent makes it harder to breath. Arms extended requires more effort. Arms wrapped around the posts seemed to work best.
Sled Pull: A full body pull is more powerful but takes more time. Hand over hand is faster but could be more challenging.
Burpee Broad Jump: Slow and steady. Pay attention to your hand placement and don’t add in the extra step before jumping.
Kettlebell Farmers Carry: Run! Go all in on this station to make up time. The first team to this station gets to choose which weight they want. It is an option to wait for another kettlebell set to free up. Once you choose a weight, you cannot change in the middle of the station.
Sandbag Lunges: Pick a number of reps you want to do without a break in the middle and stick with it. There is a time to break and a time to go. Don’t shuffle your feet!
Wallball Shots: The runner must complete the first 50 reps then you can divide it up between your team. It’s tricky. You have to throw it at just the right height or it will go over, go under, or bounce back in your face. You may lose time just trying to get your set up right.
Running: Don’t sprint. Save your breath and energy for your station.
Coach Testing Time: 44:26
There is a 1 hour time cap. Be strategic about who you place where in this event.
the race
This is a team relay where 1 team member will run then complete the following station. Team members will take turns completing the running and stations. Teams must choose an order and stay in order for the entire race. (IMPORTANT: Stations may be added or removed depending on sign ups and how many people are on a team.)
Movement standards will be posted shortly for each station. There is a 1 hour time cap for the race. If a team does not complete all stations before the time cap, placements will be determined based on completed reps. Teams will have 3 weeks to train together to determine each others’ strengths and develop a strategy to tackle the race.
